Breeding: Sustaining the Future'
Abstracts of the XVIth EUCARPIA Congress, Edinburgh, Scotland, 10-14 September 2001 EFFECT OF OVARY-MICROSPORE CO-CULTURE ON ANDROGENESIS IN BARLEY M. KHOSROWCHAHLI, M.H. NAGHILOU, M. MOGHADDAM Department of Biology, University of Tabriz, Tabriz, Iran |

Effects of 15 and 30 ovary per 40000 shed microspore culture of barley var.Igri, using L1 modified medium supplemented with 3 mg/l phenylacetic acid and 1 mg/l benzylaminopurin was investigated. Adding ovary to the medium did not affect significantly the number of embryos, number of green plantlets and number of albino plantlets as compared to the control. Presumably the effects of stamens on shed microspore culture before their elimination compensate eventually the conditioning effects of ovary in this form of co-culture.
