Studies were made on exploring SPAD values (chlorophyll content) in winter wheat breeding for higher effectiveness of N-utilisation, dynamics of SPAD and N-content in different growth stages (GS). SPAD increased from GS15(45.90) to GS68(57.27) while N-content decreased from 4.515% to 2.504%. In GS(15, 32) 2nd leaf had higher SPAD than 1st one, in GS(55, 68, 75) 1st leaf had the highest SPAD. Differences in SPAD between 1st and 3rd leaf were increased with GS and insufficient N-fertilization. Maximum SPAD was changed with leaf position and with GS via middle to basal part in consequence to maximum SPAD was in GS75 on 3rd leaf and base. The highest correlations were between SPAD on 3rd leaf and grain N-content, considering it at selection on higher N.
