Cisgenesis hearing in the European Parliament
Cisgenesis is an innovative technique in plant breeding, and uses the same natural genes as classical breeding. However, the breeding process is far more targeted and faster, as only the desired genes from crossable donor plants are introduced in modern plant varieties. Cisgenesis introduces the same genes in a faster way, by means of genetic modification. Peter van Dalen MEP organized a
hearing on the 21st of June with the participation of Prof. Evert Jacobsen, scientific secretary of EUCARPIA and Zoltán Bedõ, president of EUCARPIA.
